Materials testing

Materia Services GmbH is the spin-off of the former Analytic and Testing Center of NUTECH GmbH. Still located at the same site and now a subsidiary of NUTECH, the accredited materials testing laboratory of Materia Services handles the mechanical-technological materials testing and quality assurance for NUTECH.

In the field of materials testing, we conduct mechanical-technological tests. Our in-house workshop manufactures standardized samples from your test pieces as well as various mounting tools. With our versatile equipment, we test the hardness, impact toughness, and tensile/compression/bending strength of raw materials, semi-finished products, finished components, or weld seams. Our accredited and standardized procedures are used to verify material certificates or to identify material defects. The analytics department supports us by determining the elemental composition of the metals.

Materials Identification

In the field of material determination, we offer the following services: Testing of metallic raw materials for processing, conformity assessments, determination of the chemical composition of metallic materials using spark spectrometry and semi-quantitative analyses.

Mechanical Testing

In the field of mechanical-technological testing, we offer the following services: Conducting tensile tests according to DIN EN ISO 6892-1, Methods A and B, and ASTM E8/E 8M, with testing forces up to 200 kN, and sample preparation in our in-house metal workshop.

Metallographic Testing

In the context of metallographic testing, we handle tasks such as: Examination of microstructures in various materials, e.g., investigation and evaluation of cast structures, determination of grain size distribution, assessment of the purity level in steels, and testing of coatings.

Weld Inspection

This area includes, among other things, the execution of mechanical-technological tests for welding procedure approvals, such as for shipbuilding and mechanical engineering, tensile tests, transverse tensile tests, and hardness testing of welds.
