Laser Welding

Laser Welding from Single Pieces to 25 Million Parts per Year

In the world of metal processing, precision is essential. As laser experts, we have made precision our core focus, as a laser epitomizes precision and concentration. We manufacture your components or assemblies according to drawings or specifications, taking care of material procurement, cleaning, assembly, and, of course, laser welding.

With our powerful fiber lasers, up to 8 kW, we achieve weld depths of up to 10 mm with absolute machine accuracy and repeatability in serial welding.

Our high quality standards consistently win over our customers and secure us long-term follow-up orders in contract manufacturing. For over 25 years, NUTECH has been dedicated to using the latest technology in laser welding. We are ready to tackle your welding tasks, from prototype parts to large-scale production.

In summary

The Advantages of Laser Welding:

    • Minimal Thermal Distortion
    • High Welding Speed and Very High Precision
    • High Weld Quality and Narrow Weld Seam
    • No Post-Weld Treatment Required
    • Weldability of Difficult Materials/Material Combinations

Basics of Laser Welding

In laser welding, the energy required for welding is introduced locally into the parts to be welded using laser radiation. The relatively low heat input and the high cooling rates of the weld joint in laser welding enable nearly distortion-free welding.

In general, laser welding is divided into conduction welding and deep welding, depending on the intensity. Conduction welding is characterized by the fact that only the surface of the workpiece is melted.

In contrast, deep welding focuses energy into depth using a vapor capillary typical of laser welding.

With the laser, both materials with high melting temperatures and those with high thermal conductivity can be welded. Materials or material combinations that are conventionally difficult or even impossible to weld can be welded with the laser. Our modern laser welding systems are equipped with advanced technology to ensure the highest precision and efficiency. With precise laser welding processes, we can join a wide range of materials, from stainless steel and aluminum to titanium and other alloys. This versatility allows us to meet the specific requirements of various industries, whether in the automotive industry, aerospace, medical technology, or mechanical engineering.

Laser Macro Welding Technology

In our Laser Macro Welding Technology department, all components with a required weld depth of more than one millimeter are processed. For this purpose, three redundantly equipped welding cells are available, designed for multi-shift operation.

For all areas of NUTECH, the principle is: “Nothing is impossible.”

Thus, material combinations that are generally considered difficult to weld are also processed. For example, we are able to weld GGG40 without preheating and without filler material, achieving high and flawless quality. Additionally, our Laser Macro Welding Technology has an HP-0 approval.

During the welding processes, quality assurance is provided by our specialist staff through visual and dimensional inspections, accompanied by sections prepared in our Analytics and Testing Center.

Laser Micro Welding Technology

Our Micro Welding Technology department specializes in welding micro parts. Here, all components with a required weld depth of less than one millimeter are processed. Both manual and CNC-supported welding are carried out at two manual workstations. Welding is performed with a pulsed laser, and each welding process is monitored through a microscope. Special welding optics for laser micro welding ensure appropriate access to the weld area for these delicate tasks.

Primarily, we serve the medical and manufacturing technology industries.

As in every department of NUTECH, the quality of the weld and customer satisfaction are our top priorities. Quality assurance is also directly handled by our highly experienced specialist staff and our Analytics and Testing Center.
